Felicia Chin: No Plastic Surgery Done On Me

A remark made by local MediaCorp artiste Dasmond Koh, was recently taken out of context and blown out of proportions by the local media.

In response to the accusations made against her, local MediaCorp actress, Felicia Chin, expressed thanks to her supportive fans under a blog entry titled 'Thankful'. She shared her helpless feelings on this matter and reassured fans that she "will not be defeated and will stand stronger."

In an interview, Felicia was forthright in her replies and felt that the plastic surgery issue has been harped on one too many times. "Everyone has an answer in their hearts. If you believe me, thank you. If you don't believe me, then I am unable to control that either. I don't have to prove anything to anybody, as long as you believe in me, it's enough."

The actress expressed knowledge and confirmed that she knew of Dasmond's joking replies in his interview. However, she felt that it was outrageous for the reporter to take his words out of context. "Initially when I read the report, I felt a little emotional. Shortly after, Dasmond responded to the report and clarified that he was joking and that the surgery jobs were not real. After which, I feel that there wasn't anything for me to be afraid of or hide from because what he said is not true."

"I felt really helpless and upset because the report was not written from what was said. I have lost confidence in such reports. I find it even harder to judge between what is real and fake now," she confided.

Felicia understands that it is inevitable for artistes to be plagued with such gossip, however she said, "It is hurtful to be criticized and to remain under the constant scrutiny and attention of others. At the end, we are still the ones who have to face these people." Despite the hurt inflicted on her from this matter, the easy-going actress bears no grudges against Dasmond. "Since it has already happened, we should let it go. I will not be bitter over this, I will look forward."

Her optimism and love for acting still clearly shows despite being jaded from this entire hullabaloo. The sense of satisfaction derived from acting and her fans' endearing support are her two main sources of motivation.

After Indonesia has chosen their idol who is Mike Mohede last November 24, the roster of Idol competitors for the upcoming Asian Idol is now complete. The remaining five are Indian Idol Abhijeet Sawant, Malaysian Idol Jaclyn Victor, Philippine Idol Mau Marcelo, Vietnam Idol Phuong Vy and Singaporean Idol Hady Mirza.

On December 15, the Finals Performance Show will be aired (locally on ABC 5), the public will be given 24 hours to vote two Idols they want to be the first Asian Idol, and on December 16, the first Asian Idol will be proclaimed!

Asian Idol will be hosted by Indonesian Idol hosts Amelia Natasha and Daniel Mananta. Guy Sebastian, the first Australian Idol will be a guest in the said Finals.

Voting Procedures:

Choose 2 of your most favorite idols in one vote, but avoid choosing the same country twice, because that vote would not be valid. Why? Because we have to normalize votes due to population count differences in participating countries. You can vote any two countries soon after the voting lines are opened during the Asian Idol performance show. So stay on your local channel and keep visiting this website for more info because every vote is precious for your idol.

Six Asian Idol Contestants Performed Marvelously

Six contestants compete for the title of Asian Idol yesterday. Each had shown their abilities in singing two songs. That night, the show was opened with traditional dances with six different cloths flashed to represent six different countries. Then came the dancers of each to describe that Asia is rich with cultural background, but united in diversity beautifully without subtracting the traditional values in it.

The six judges sit in front of the stage ready to evaluate each contestant’s performance. It’s Anu Malik (Indian Idol’s judge), Siu Black (Vietnam Idol’s judge), Indra Lesmana (Indonesian Idol’s judge), Paul Moss (Malaysian Idol’s judge), Ken Lim (Singapore Idol’s judge), and Pilita Corrales (Philippine Idol’s judge). Few of them are well known as harsh when criticizing the Idols on their home countries, but these don’t take away the six Idols’ spirit and enthusiasm to perform.
The first is Jaclyn Victor with the song ‘For Once in My Life’. She said, "I am looking forward for tonight and of course I’m nervous, and my flu is getting worse. What I know is I will perform best in front of the judges and viewers." Jaclyn sang beautifully that night with purple slacks and white blouse. Paul Moss, her home country’s judge, commented that "Your performance captured people’s attention." While on the second song he said, "Very good! You’ve made me and Malaysia proud."

The second performer was Hady Mirza with the song ‘Berserah’, the winning song of Taufik Batisah that he chose to make a difference from his previous performance. "On rehearsal, I was so nervous. But eventually I adjust and start to enjoy," he said moments before taking the stage. Even if not all the judges gave good comments, Ken Lim said, "You are a true Singapore Idol." For his second song, ‘Beautiful Day’, Ken Lim said, "You sound like a singer, you look like a winner."

Phuong Vy was next with the up beat song called ‘River Deep Mountain High’. "I’m not too nervous and I tried to keep calm so I can sing best", she explained before went on stage. And she did perform so well to make Siu Black said, "You always sing with all your heart." The second song was Luc Moi You that was light and easy listening and got a short comment from Siu Black, "Very romantic."

Mau Marcelo was the fourth and she sang in Tagalog as her first song, ‘Ako Ang Nagwagi’. At backstage she said, "I was so nervous. Every competition made me nervous, and this is international. I don’t want to be over confident. What I know is I’ll try to be myself." The song she chose made Pilita Corrales said, "That was the perfect song for you. You could be the next Asian Idol." Mau chose ‘Reach’ from Gloria Estefan as her second song, and once again Pilita said, "That was the performance I’ve been waiting for."

Abhijeet Sawant was to sing next with the song ‘Everything I Do, I Do It for You’ from Bryan Adams. Abhijeet admitted that he was nervous and really hoped it wouldn’t affect his performance. Anu Malik was really impressed with his voice and said, "It’s really surprising that you can learn English in that short a time. And all the notes were hit perfectly by you." His second song, ‘Junoon’ from his second album, made all viewers there dance and move around. "Very energetic. You have improved fast. Whether you win or lose, you are still a winner to me," said Anu Malik wisely.

The sixth in order to perform was Mike Mohede with the song ‘Mengejar Matahari’. He claimed to be real nervous but praying had made him calmer. He made Indra Lesmana said, "I have watched you perform a million time, but this is your best one."Around 5000 people were amazed by the performance of the six Asian Idol contestants. Every performance was given maximum and spontaneous applause. Asian Idol Performance Show must be watched on RCTI, this Saturday, December 15 2007, 9 PM – 10.30 PM. Vivian won first place in a teen beauty contest, sponsored by a Taiwanese TV-variety show in 1990.

A Taiwanese-born singer, actress and model, she made her music debut in 1991 at the age of 16 as a member of a female trio named ShaoNuDui (Literally, Girl's Group). This group, however, never achieved popularity and Vivian temporarily parted from singing to explore the opportunities available to her in modeling and acting. After going to Japan and achieving some popularity, she once again entered the music industry starting in 1996 by releasing a few singles and then her first solo album, all in Japanese. It's remarkable enough that she became famous in a culture and language different from her own.

Learning one foreign language must not have satisfied her enough, as she went through a speed course on "how to speak Korean in one week" and released a Korean music album in the latter part of 1996. Due to rising stardom in Japan as well as a multi-million dollar contract from her planning agency, Vivian left her activities in Korea relatively unpromoted and focused back to her activities in Japan. Halfway through 1997, she joined two comedian program hosts to form a music group called the Black Biscuits. Black Biscuits was formed as a rival group to another popular Japanese music group named Pocket Biscuits.
